Place pieces and complete lines
Drag a piece from the tray onto empty cells. Every square of the piece must fit inside the board without overlapping another block. Pieces keep their shown orientation. Look at the whole tray before committing to a placement.
A full horizontal row or vertical column clears. Colours do not need to match, and diagonals do not clear. Normal play is untimed, so you can pause to compare positions. After using all three tray pieces, you receive another tray.
A simple line clear
In this small example, a horizontal pair fits the two empty cells at the right of the bottom row. Placing it completes all eight cells, so the row clears. The example starts with an otherwise empty board to make the result easy to follow.
Collect and use special items
Special marked blocks can bring a Shake or Popcorn onto the board. Clear the row or column containing the marked block to collect the item. Your inventory holds one item; collecting another replaces the one held. Drag the stored item onto the board to use it.
A Shake lets blocks fall down within their columns, then clears completed lines. Popcorn removes half the occupied cells at random, rounded up. Read the Shake and Popcorn guide before treating either as a guaranteed rescue.
When a game ends
In Normal mode, the game ends when no remaining tray piece fits and you have no inventory item available. Having an item gives you another action; it does not guarantee that the resulting board will fit a piece.
Signed-in players can also choose a Weekly Challenge when available. That mode has a finite challenge and its own targets and leaderboard. These guides focus on the placement and item mechanics shared with Normal play.
Your next board
First practise recognising gaps that a current piece can fill. Then try the strategy guide to plan several placements together. Visit offline play and installation if you want to keep Normal play available away from a connection.
